Do Natural Remedies Work in Prostate Gland Problems?

The prostate is a small organ situated below the urinary bladder in males. It is essential for the production of the seminal fluid which is discharged from the male copulatory organ, the penis during sexual stimulation.

The prostate gland is prone to a number of problems. One of the deadliest is prostate cancer, which is a fatal condition. Another commonly faced problem by men is prostatitis, which is the inflammation of the prostate gland. Prostate gland problems increase as the man advances in age. However, care of the prostate gland must be taken throughout life so as to protect oneself from problems later on in life.

In Ayurveda, two important prostate related complications are known:-

(i)	Mootrakruchra, which is painful micturation or urination and

(ii)	Mootraghaata, which is suppression of urination.

These are actually considered to be symptoms of prostate problems. Most of the prostate complications are shown by urinary symptoms like the two above and in addition, hesitant urine flow, dribbling, increased urination, hematuria (blood in urine), urinary tract infection and urinary retention.

(1)	Useful Herbs in the Treatment of Prostate Gland Problems

-	Hog Weed (Boerhaavia diffusa)

Hog weed is known in Ayurveda as punarnava. It is prescribed in case of all urinary problems that are caused due to prostate ailments.

-	Prickly Lettuce (Lactuca scariola)

The prickly lettuce leaves provide a bitter tonic, which is very effective in the treatment of enlargement of the prostate gland.

-	Salep Orchid (Orchis mascula)

The salep orchid is known as shalaba mishri in Ayurveda. It is prescribed in case of prostate problems brought on by vata vitiation.

-	Small Caltrop (Tribulus terrestris)

Gokshura or small caltrop, is an indigenous Indian herb which is commonly used in treatment of urinary complications caused due to prostate problems. Its fruit is effective in such cases. It is ground roughly and boiled in two cups of water till it is reduced to half the amount. This is drunk along with sugar.

(2)	Dietary Treatments for Prostate Gland Problems

A reduction in the mineral contents of the body is generally related with prostate gland disorders. It has been found that a long time deficiency of zinc in the diet causes such problems. Therefore, foods that are rich in zinc must be consumed adequately. Zinc is present to appreciable extent in meat, eggs and all kinds of seafood.

In case of prostate problems, sour and fried things are to be avoided. These are difficult to digest and will exert pressure on the prostate. Foods that are recommended for people with prostate problems are ghee made from cow’s milk, butter, ginger, garlic and asafetida.

(3)	Ayurvedic Treatments for Prostate Gland Problems

Shilajit is the best Ayurvedic medicine for prostate gland problems like benign prostate hyperplasia. It is taken in small doses for better effect. The dosage prescribed is half a teaspoonful at bedtime along with milk. Shilajit is also taken in the form of its preparations. Chandraprabha vati is a very popularly prescribed Shilajit preparation that is prescribed for the treatment of prostate enlargement.

Prostate gland problems can occur due to all the three dosha interferences. Hence, Ayurvedic treatments would slightly differ according to the dosha. The following are the typical treatments:-

-	Prostate problems due to vata vitiation – Herbs like gokshura, punarnava, shalaba mishri, kahu, guggulu and shilajit are provided. Three of these herbs are prescribed in the form of a mixture, in doses of 1 to 3 grams per day for a month.

-	Prostate problems due to pitta vitiation – When the prostate problems are due to pitta vitiation, then cooling herbs must be provided to reduce the agni. Herbs of choice in this case are punarnava and coriander. Marshmallow and barley are also found to be effective.

-	Prostate problems due to kapha vitiation – Guggulu and shilajit are the herbs of choice. Along with then spices like turmeric, ginger and cinnamon may be added. Juniper berries are also prescribed in some cases.

(4)	Home Remedies for Prostate Gland Problems

The following are some remedies that can be done at the household level to prevent prostate problems:-

-	Eat a mixture of juniper berries and parslane. This helps in case of enlarged prostates.

-	Increase the use of tomatoes in the diet. This protects from prostate infections.

-	When there are prostate problems, alternate cold and hot hip baths for ten minutes a day are beneficial.

There are many precautions to be taken in order to keep the prostate gland healthy. These should be borne in mind.

-	One of the most important things to remember is that prostate problems begin when you lead a sedentary life. Hence, a change in lifestyle would do better for prostate problems. Men must remain sexually active, but most not indulge in excessive sex. Walks and other forms of mild exercise must be regularly done.

-	The urge to urinate must never be suppressed. This leads to prostate complications. This must be kept in mind when going on long travels.

-	Do not sit on a hard stool for long periods of time. If you do a desk job, then get a soft ergonomic chair to sit on.

-	Alcoholism and smoking are two certain ways to invite prostate problems.

Avoid them, especially if you are overweight.

Prostate Exams are Uncomfortable

Prostate exams are uncomfortable, but should be done starting at age 45. Prostate exams are very humiliating to a good many men and many will not get it done for that reason. Prostate exams are simple and can be conducted in a doctor’s office without any need for medical equipment or urine or blood testing. Yearly prostate exams are recommended for all men by age 50, and African American men and men with a close relative who had prostate cancer by age 45.

The prostate gland is a small organ in men, located behind the pubic bone, beneath the bladder and above the rectum. Prostate exams can be required as part of health screening process, recommendation for men who are age 50 and above, or a check-up procedure for those having problems with urination. But some sources believe the tests are an imprecise method of diagnosing prostate cancer, and a cause for unnecessary concern for many patients. According to the study, American and Swiss scientists have identified several genetic markers that indicate risk factors in men with a family history of prostate cancer. The new research, however, is acknowledged to be only a small step toward more dependable prostate screening, and men are better off being screened by the conventional method.

Testicular and prostate health are important for all men, including gay and bisexual men. On the other hand it has been proven that certain foods can also promote prostate health and even stem the production of DHT to an extent. In an unhealthy prostate this can result in a chain reaction of the prostate growing larger very rapidly, picking up speed over the course of several months or years until it is too big of a problem to ignore. So every time you eat tofu, edamame or even soy sauce you are not only promoting a healthy prostate, but also preventing hair loss. As a footnote: Tomato products also promote a healthy prostate.

Part of your prostate care must-dos is having prostate exams. Regular prostate exams will increase your chances of detecting prostate cancer early, which is the most dangerous potential condition. That is why it is strongly recommended that all men over the age of 50 go for regular prostate exams and have a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test. Even in the absence of urinary symptoms, in order to promote a healthy prostate your doctor may perform periodic prostate exams and regularly monitor your prostate specific antigen (PSA) level. Prostate exams are very humiliating to a good many men and many will not get it done for that reason.

Symptoms exhibited by those who are afflicted with a case of prostate cancer are difficulty starting urine flow, painful urination, loss of weight or appetite, blood in the urine and painful ejaculation. When the prostate enlarges to a significant extent, symptoms of the condition, which chiefly consist of urination problems caused by the pressure of the gland on the urethra, usually ensue. A test is required when you find prostate cancer symptoms on yourself. Many men with symptoms are affected so mildly that they don’t need treatment. It is important that you understand the symptoms and warning signs of prostate disease and tell your doctor about any that you may experience. Even in the absence of urinary symptoms, in order to promote a healthy prostate your doctor may perform periodic prostate exams and regularly monitor your prostate specific antigen (PSA) level.

Natural Prostate Health

Prostate health is a concern for every man seeing half the male population over 50 and more than half of men over 80 show signs of an enlarged prostate. Prostate health is best maintained by healthy lifestyle and dietary choices including essential fatty acids, required for proper cell membrane function. Natural prostate health is the best choice that many men are making today to ensure their health, since natural health is about taking care of your body as a whole. In any case if you feel like your prostate health is in need of some attention, then the best treatment option should be selected for you. Prostate health is a complex and multifaceted challenge.

Getting a grip on prostate health starts with an understanding of the body. Prostate health is one of the health problems in advanced societies, which should be considered a serious problem, because it can easily advance to prostrate cancer. Support prostate health with a healthier diet, regular exercise and nutritional supplements. Natural remedies have been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years to support the healthy functioning of the prostate and male reproductive system, while also acting as immune system tonics to encourage normal and efficient immune functioning.

Prostate massage is an old technique that has been used successfully for hundreds of years. There is no guarantee that it will work for you, but it certainly is worth the effort. Prostate massage is the most effective means of doing so, as no other method directly stimulates the prostate gland. Tensing the muscles of your entire body can increase the pressure of the massage. Prostate massage is carried out usually with a massager tool or the finger. The idea is to massage the area of the rectal wall which is next to the prostate so that the gland is stimulated.

Prostate massage is also known as prostate milking. It is the process of stimulating a man’s prostate gland for medical for sexual purposes. Prostate massage is one form of pain alleviating techniques which involves massage of the prostate glands. Prostate massage is a massage on the prostate, prostate catheter to clear. Patients with acute bacterial prostatitis banned prostate massage to prevent the spread of the infection.

Prostate massage is good to prevent prostate problems such as prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia. It is also good for relieving the symptoms of prostate problems of BPH. Prostate massage is also a form of sexual play. Whatever your reason may be, lets say you would like to do prostate massage on your husband or partner. Prostate massage is used as a preventive medical treatment for chronic prostatitis or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Prostate massage is a sacred tantric ritual used to awaken this sexual-spiritual focus point in your body. The prostate is reached through the anus and is located by gently inserting a finger and slightly curling it up towards the belly. PROSTATE MASSAGE is the same for all, and should also test groups with equal IQs and socioeconomic backgrounds. Old Thai tradition w/o the hustle.

Prostate massage is a healthy and pleasurable activity that can be enjoyed as part of your intimate life. Quite simply, prostate massage stimulates the prostate with a finger or massage tool with the intention of relaxation and/or pleasure. Prostate massage is the only way, it would seem: if you get involved with the boomlike five-foot penis of a bull elephant, you’re apt to get knocked over. Prostate massage is an art form of its own, with incredible rewards for dedicated and willing participants.

Prostate massage is not recommended for men with prostate cancer, as you can cause the cancer to metastasize, or for men with a prostate infection, since the infection can spread. Nor should it be too vigorous, or you can damage the fragile tubes. Prostate massage is prescribed in cases of chronic bacterial prostatitis, syndrome of chronic pelvic pain, asymptomatic prostatitis etc. Well-done massage helps to better blood circulation, to increase a muscular tone and to restore permeability of prostate channels .

Male reproductive system is best to be understood and taken care of at the right time. It is not only a source of pleasure for the men of today, this is an ignorant view on the subject, and we should learn as soon as possible what is NORMAL and what it ABNORMAL in the sphere of sexual behavior. Male prostate stimulation is something that every man should try, as it is neither dirty nor tabooed as opposed to our beliefs. If you are interested in male prostate massage, you will want to know where the exact location of male prostate is and how to go for male prostate milking.

Lubricant is usually inserted into the anus. A prostate massager should be used with care because of the sensitivity of the prostate and rectal region. Lubricate one or two fingers, and as your partner relaxes, insert them gently into his anus. Go very slowly, and let him decide how fast and how deep you go.

INTRODUCTION: Prostate cancer is cancer of the small gland in men that creates the seminal fluid that nourishes and transports sperm. It is also the 2nd most common type of cancer among men in the US and is the third most common cause of death from cancer in men of all ages.

Prostate cancer typically occurs in older men and is seldom found in men under the age of 40. It occurs in 1 out of 6 men and when confined to the gland is usually treated successfully.

RISK: Every man is at risk for developing prostate cancer. Along with being male, there are other risk factors, such as age, race, and family history that may contribute to the overall risk. Men at greater risk include African-America men over 60,farmers, tire plant workers, painters, and men exposed to cadmium. The risk for developing it rises significantly with age, and 60 percent of recently diagnosed cases occur in men over the age of 70.

The greatest risk factor is age. This risk increases significantly after the age of 50 in white men who have no family history of the disease and after the age of 40 in black men and men who have a close relative with the disease. Having a brother with prostate cancer appears to increase your risk more than having an affected father does. That risk is even higher when there are multiple family members affected.

SYMPTOMS: May include Painful urinatian, difficulty starting or stopping the stream, or dribbling, Low back pain, Pain while ejaculating. A large number of men experience no symptoms; the first indicator that they may have prostate cancer is often an abnormal finding on a routine screening exam. Symptoms are more likely to appear as the cancer grows.

TREATMENT: Can include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy or control of hormones that affect the cancer. Treatment frequently depends on the stage of the cancer. The appropriate treatment is very often controversial.

Surgery is usually only recommended after thorough evaluation and discussion of available treatment options. Chemotherapy is often used to treat prostate cancers that are resistant to hormonal treatments. A radical prostatectomy is often recommended for treatment of stages A and B.

CONCLUSION: Prostate cancer is the third most common cause of death from cancer in males of all ages and is the most common cause of death from cancer in men over the age of 75. Often there are no signs of the disease in its early stages. If it has spread, it may be treated with drugs to decrease testosterone levels, surgery to remove the testes, or drugs.

Although no single treatment can offer guarantees for success, the combination of various alternative medicines, as well as improvements in overall health is certainly worth trying for most patients. What is important about non traditional methods is that they treat the patient and not just the disease - these treatments understand that the a proper recovery requires both physical, mental and emotional stamina.
a

While modern medicine has continued to improve standard surgical techniques to treat prostate cancers, these also has been a growing body of research into alternative prostate cancer treatments which may provide effective options at a lower financial commitment and risk. What is important about non traditional methods is that they treat the patient and not just the disease – these treatments understand that the a proper recovery requires both physical, mental and emotional stamina.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed non-skin cancer, has overtaken lung cancer as the leading cancer affecting all men and followed by colorectal cancer. Annually, one out of six American men will develop it in the course of his lifetime. More than 27,000 deaths due to prostate cancer are expected to occur annually. One new case every 2 1/2 minutes. One new case every 150 seconds. It is estimated that by 2012, the number of new cases in the U.S. is expected to increase to more than 300,000 new cases per year by 2012.

What causes prostate cancer? The world around you. Why farmers? There are several reasons that farmers might have a higher risk of prostate cancer than other occupations. Another possible reason to the answer What causes prostate cancer in terms of those in the farm industry is engine exhaust.

I have seen many patients following a prostatectomy who are very distressed by their inability to resume normal intimacy. Yet frequently, at the time of diagnosis, these patients did not view impotence as a major concern when they made their choice of treatment. A traditional radical prostatectomy is undertaken using wide margins around the prostate, damaging the nerves which control the blood supply to the reproductive organ.

A very deceptive cancer that affects the prostate, does not start early, but does grow fast once it does start. Prostate cancer affects men and their intimate performance as well as the other reproductive functions. However, this procedure does take your ability to perform, which leaves many with psychological problems. This method of treatment is not backed by any medical profession, but mostly by believers in herbal cures.

Adults who regularly wet the bed at night are often suffering from some sort of underlying medical condition which could probably get worse if not treated quickly. If you’re a woman or a man suffering from bed wetting issues then you may want to visit your doctor sooner rather than later. Adult bed wetting affects between 1-2% of the entire population and it is not a medical condition to be taken lightly.

Some reasons for adult bed wetting are more serious such as some sort of internal injury or even bladder cancer. There are quite a few different possible reasons and solutions for this condition, ranging from physical to mental conditions. Other reasons for adult nocturnal enuresis are more common than others, including having a urinary tract infection or stress.

There are many subtle symptoms of diabetes, but having bed wetting incidents in adulthood is one of them. Diabetes changes the way in which your body wants to take in liquid and that increase in liquid consumption obviously comes with the need to elimate more liquid more. One possible cause of random adult bedwetting is complications from diabetes.

The prostate gland in men can sometimes increase in size and begin to push against the bladder. Men are almost two times as likely to have issues with adult nocturnal enuresis as women. For men who have urination incidents during sleep, they may want to first rule out prostate problems.

These are just some of many different causes for bed wetting issues in adults. Many of the reasons for bed wetting in adults are serious and can get worse as the problems continue untreated. A visit to the general practitioner is a good first step in getting your adult nocturnal enuresis issues addressed.

by Brad Morgan

Over fifty percent of men over fifty, and eighty percent of men over seventy, have problems with their prostate, commonly enlargement.

The prostate is a gland located beneath the bladder. If it becomes enlarged, it squeezes the urinary tract, causing a number of problems.

Men with an enlarged prostate may experience incontinence, frequent urination, weak stream, blood in the urine, and more. Many different methods can be used to treat this uncomfortable and irritating condition so proper functioning is restored.

Prostate enlargement comes with age. Over half of men over fifty deal with this problem, and that number climbs as you get older. You may or not be bothered by the symtpoms, but it is important to talk to your doctor in either case. You may not need surgery or even medication, but your doctor should be aware of your condition in order to monitor it.

If the symptoms do become bothersome or worse, medications such as Flomax have been developed in recent years that help to shrink the prostate. They allow urine to pass more smoothly through the urethra.

The severity of the symptoms of an enlarged prostate can fluctuate, and it is important to have regular check-ups.

Even mild symptoms should be checked with an exam. This can keep them from developing into more severe problems, such as urinary tract infections, blood in the urine, bladder stones, or acute urinary retention. These require immediate medical attention.

When the problem is allowed to go unchecked, simple medication may not be enough to relieve the symptoms and remedy the condition. Invasive procedures may then become necessary. Because they involve going through the urethra, they can be uncomfortable or painful.

Because the prostate is blocking the flow of urine, these surgeries seek to remove extra tissue or widen the passage to make urination easier and more comfortable.

Two methods are widely used for destroying excess tissue through the urethra: electromagnetically-generated heat and microwave thermotherapy.

Another procedure, photo-selective vaporization, is also performed through the urethra, and seeks to relieve discomfort and pain caused by enlarged prostates. Small incisions are made into the bladder, and one common side effect is a temporary decrease in sexual functioning.

The above procedures may still not be enough to alleviate an enlarged prostate, especially if the condition has escalated into prostate cancer.

Again, there are surgical options if this is the case. Transurethral resection of the prostate, or TURP, involves removal of portions of the prostate. In more severe cases, a radical prostatectomy may be performed. This involves the removal of the entire prostate.

TURP and prostate removal can severely impact sexual function and ejaculation. Further surgical procedures can be performed to fix any sexual dysfunction.

The key in preventing prostate problems is understanding that it does continue to grow in late adulthood, and that there can be symptoms you will need to recognize if it becomes enlarged.

Yearly prostate exams are recommended for men over forty, and regular doctor’s visits can keep prostate enlargement symptoms in check. Prostate enlargement is a natural result of aging, but it doesn’t have to severely impact your life.

by Amanda Gamdana

First off, it is well known that men and women around the world have separate and distinct medical problems. With women it is breast cancer. It may not be as common as in women but breast cancer is found in men as well. With males it is an equally undesirable cancer, that of the prostrate. Prostate cancer is affecting an increasing number of men and has become an extremely talked about subject amongst them.

I don’t doubt that a great deal of prostrate cancer research will have to be carried out before an effective cure can be found, perhaps for now prevention is all we can hope for. Like most men, the thought of contacting cancer fills me with dread. I don’t doubt that like me, most men haven’t got it on their minds all day long. In fact, I don’t normally think about during the course of the day unless I hear it mentioned by someone or see it featured somewhere. In fact watching the television is probably the worst reminder because of the number of adverts relating to breast and prostrate cancer.

I don’t doubt that a great deal of research in both cancers, both prostrate and breast cancer will still need to be done in the future. A cure for cancer cannot come too soon as it is probably the worst torments that humankind has to face. The fact that you cannot inoculate against it or avoid it completely makes it an awful adversary.

Sure, you can eat healthy, exercise and live right, but that doesn’t mean you won’t acquire cancer. Many other headline conditions are preventable, including HIV, s it is unfair to mention them in the same company as cancer. You don’t have to put yourself at risk and get it, it’s avoidable. Research is now available for all to see on cancer or almost any subject.

This is one way to keep on top of breast and prostate cancer research because you can see what is currently going on with treatments and breakthroughs. Research is the key and given time, funds and persistence all this investigation and analysis will provide the world with a cure.

Are you like me, and you’ve been searching for a natural supplement for your prostate health? Prostate health is a primary concern of almost every man over 40.

Luckily there have been advancements in recent medical technology. Also, there are many long standing traditional natural supplements that will aid in obtaining a healthy prostate.

Lycopene,. which is a pigment, occurs naturally in vegetables; it’s what makes tomatoes red, for example. Lycopene is also found in other fruits and vegetables such as watermelon and carrot.

The human body doesn’t make its own lycopne, we we need to make sure that we get what we need from our fruits and vegetables. Lycopene is knows as one of the best supplements to maintain and improve prostate health. Lycopene also lowers the risk of heart disease, and other types of cancer.

Another good but not well know supplement for prostate health is pygeum africanum. The pygeum tree is native to Africa, and the bark is used to supplement prostate health.

Recent discoveries for superior supplements include beta sitosterol. It’s been shown to be thousands of times more powerful than pygeum africanum and saw palmetto combined!

Saw palmetto is found in the dried fruit of partially ripened fruits grown on American dwarf palm trees. These palm trees are native to the southern coastal regions of the United States.

Research has shown that saw palmetto relieves symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate. Two of these symptoms include frequent urination and nighttime urination.

Stinging Nettle – This is a remedy used for many therapeutic reasons, and it has been shown to assist in preventing an enlarged prostate. While it doesn’t resolve the problem, it does provide relief to those who are suffering from an enlarged prostate.

I’ve listed just a few of the natural prostate health supplements that are available to help maintain good prostate health. Any time that you start taking a new supplement, please discuss it with your doctor.

While most people are used to hearing about radiation as the main form of cancer treatment, there is another one surfacing. It has been found that oxygen and the development of tumor cells have formed a direct link in the body. Studies have accomplished the ability to reduce the risk of developing cancer by oxygenating the tumor cells. It’s an excellent cancer treatment that can improve your standard radiation therapy on various malignancies over time. Best of all you will only experience the minimal side-effects out there.

Also known as H2o2, Hydrogen peroxide is one of the most often studied alternative cancer treatment. Even though you won’t find it recognized by the FDA or AMA, research has shown that the infusion of hydrogen peroxide gives off a positive metabolic effect and actually oxidizes various physiological substances. In doing so, it promotes a healthy growth of tissue and increases the oxygen tension of the cells. When it’s all said and done, this treatment hinders the growth of tumors and even it’s development. While radiation is still the number one fight against cancer, this step has several unwanted side effects that come along with it. However, hydrogen peroxide gives you a safer way to cure cancer.

Oddly enough, the research behind hydrogen peroxide dates as far back as the 19th century. Back then it was being used as a form of treatment for people who has tuberculosis and syphilis. So many years later, it’s hard to believe that those documented treatments have helped the solution evolve like it has today. It’s hard to believe that if we had just kept progressing in this area back then, we may have a full proof cure today. In fact, if it wasn’t for the pharmaceutical industry flourishing, things may have been different. Regardless, hydrogen peroxide is becoming the new way to combat cancer. If you need a scientific explanation, H2o2 can be split into several molecules. When the process is complete you will be left with one oxygen atom. However, the environment and other finding in areas like processed foods have damaged the oxidative metabolism process of the cells in many individuals. You wind up with an inferior energy among the cells that simply isn’t healthy. Eventually cancer cells develop and you end up spending the next 8-10 months in the hospital or worse. The goal is to boost blood oxygen levels and kill any cancer cell development. Unfortunately it’s a lot easier said then done.

H2O2 can split into molecules a molecule of water, leaving you one oxygen atom. The toxins delivered by adulterated processed foods as well as environmental factors typically damage the oxidative metabolism of cells. This causes the regression to anaerobic metabolism and inferior energy among the cells. This condition is usually leads to the development of cancer cells. Hence, integrating additional oxygen atoms to normal oxidative metabolism boosts blood oxygen levels, which kills and prevents the development of cancer cells. Hydrogen peroxide cancer treatment kills cancer cells and reduces the size of tumors by supplying them with more oxygen than they can tolerate.

Soaking the affected body part with hydrogen peroxide separates the body from the deadly effects of cancer cells. Though the task seems easy, it actually requires special skills and techniques to be done correctly. Just like in any other cancer treatment, administering hydrogen peroxide cancer treatment needs expert hands to optimize its benefits and minimize possible side-effects.

We suggest speaking to a certified medical practitioner that specializes in hydrogen peroxide cancer treatment. They aren’t easy to find, but if you can then you’re already a step ahead of the game. See, H2o2 providers have spent years on the subject and know all the ins and outs of the process. If you have to put your life in someone else’s hands, let it be the most qualified individual possible.

Most of us know about menopause, but think it only affects women. In reality however, all humans experience a rise and fall in their levels of hormones, and men will be affected at a certain stage of life just as women always are. Known simply as menopause for women, this time in a man’s life marked by the decline in certain hormones is known as andropause, which basically translates to ‘male menopause.’ It is of primary concern because it results in negative symptoms that are common among aging men.

Truth be told, andropause affects every man, none go through mid life without experiencing a fall in hormone levels.

In today’s world, a man’s diet and other external factors along with his genetics will contribute to when he first starts experiencing symptoms; these factors have led to a larger number of younger men, as young as between the ages of 32 and 35, undergoing these changes (as mentioned in an article in Men’s Health magazine). Several important male hormones start to decline around the ages of 25 to 27, marking the onset of male andropause. Hormone replacement therapy, as utilized successfully for women going through hormonal declines during middle-age, can also be used to safely balance a man’s hormonal levels and reverse unwanted and unpleasant symptoms, perhaps even within one week. A man’s vital hormones consist of testosterone, DHEA, human growth hormone and thyroid hormones, and the replacement of these results in a healthier and more youthful body.

Andropause symptoms include:

* Levels of strength, endurance, and energy decrease

* Increased body fat and decreased muscle

* Lower desire for both exercise and physical activity

* Difficulty sleeping along with night sweats

* Decreased libido

* Lower mental acuity and sharpness

* Lower enthusiasm for life and daily activities

* Impatient and despondency

With such symptoms on the horizon, it would be difficult to imagine a single man that would not want to look for a solution! That solution is testosterone treatment, which is a safe and easy way to reduce all the unwanted symptoms of andropause. Many of us are already familiar with testosterone and its importance as a primary male hormone; testosterone is vital in the production and development of typical male characteristics. These include secondary characteristics such as a man’s deep voice and the growth of male facial hair. Testosterone is also responsible for increasing bone mass and improving muscle tone.

Testosterone is the most potent of all the male hormones, known as androgens, in a man’s body. It is the male hormone that is most often associated with good health and male vitality. Some of the benefits of a healthy testosterone level include:

* Higher levels of energy levels and drive

* Enhancing the denseness of the bones

* Greater endurance and strength

* Increased lean muscle mass

* Lessened likelihood of depression

* Improvement in the distribution and regulation of body fat

* An increase in body hair growth

* A reduction in the risk of heart disease

* A reduction in the risk of heart attack

* Greater stabilization of blood pressure (with a lower risk of high blood pressure)

* Clinical studies show an improved diabetic health and a lessened need for diabetic medications

When properly utilized, testosterone hormone replacement therapy is risk free. Much of the time there are male concerns about prostate cancer becoming a situation in later life, and it should be noted that replacing testosterone will assist in lessening the factors that develop prostate cancer in the male body. When there are higher levels of testosterone in the body, one’s estrogen level decreases; it is when there are higher amounts of estrogen that creates the factors that cause prostate cancer. When a man puts on extra body fat, particularly around his middle section, that is an indicator of an excess of estrogen in the body. It is important to note that one of the main causes of prostate cancer is an excess of estrogen; that is why it is so important to control estrogen. An enzyme known as aromatase is found in body fat, and it is this enzyme that is responsible for converting testosterone into estrogen. Once converted into estrogen, this substance can then convert into a form that is carcinogenic. Therefore, controlling the level of estrogen in the body is vital not just to staying fit, but also healthy and proactive in the prevention of cancer.

It is in a man’s best interests to proactively treat testosterone deficiency upon reaching the age of 35. Even those who are older can greatly improve the quality of their lives and overcome debilitating symptoms with hormone replacement therapy. The treatment has a reasonable cost and the benefits can be life-changing. Generations of males in the past, our fathers and grandfathers, experienced and endured these problems but with modern knowledge, one can finally do something about it. So there is a way, after all, to regain all that youthful energy and enjoy life once again!

The first step is to have a professional examine one’s testosterone level. Find out right away whether you can benefit from testosterone replacement therapy and increase your quality of life. Going out and playing can be enjoyed once again, even with the kids and grandkids! Advances in modern knowledge have made it possible for you to be your old self again, and feel that adrenaline for life as you always have!

Network marketing is one of the biggest businesses on the Internet today. It is the way that millions of people are finding a great amount of success and making a fortune in their own businesses today. Those involved in network marketing are helping others to realize their business success through training and coaching. There is a lot of work involved in network marketing but the rewards can be staggering.

Not everyone succeeds in this business. In fact, more than ninety five percent of people involved in MLM network marketing will fail. There are a number of reasons for this high rate of failure and as long as you are aware of these reasons, it will help you to avoid the problems and pitfalls with network marketing.

The primary reason why most people fail, boils down to a lack of relevant research. In other words, the vast majority simply don’t bother investigating the type of work which network marketing involves. Before you even start you need to be aware of what will be expected of you, such as prospecting and the task of finding other marketers who’ll be willing to participate in your business. Sure, you can sell some products and generate an income and there’s nothing wrong with that, but you need to realize that selling an idea, is a completely different ball game. Essentially, if you’re not willing to, or if you’re unable to get others to join your venture, then I’m afraid you have virtually no chance of success.

A great marketing coach once told his students that they should never see failure as being failure, but rather as an opportunity to improve themselves, and this applies to rejection as well. So many people starting out are ill prepared for the inevitable rejection they’ll face on a daily basis and as a result, they throw in the towel. Rejection goes hand in hand with network marketing so providing you don’t see rejection as being rejection, buy rather as being a step closer to acceptance, you’ll remain unscathed when you face rejection in the beginning.

Yet another aspect, of which so many people aren’t aware, is the fact that network marketing will require an investment. As with any business, you’ll need to have a budget, irrespective of whether or not it’s only a small budget. As your business expands and starts to generate an income, you can gradually increase it.

It simply cannot be stressed enough just how important network marketing training is in this line of work. By having the necessary knowledge, you’ll be thoroughly prepared for the many pitfalls you’ll encounter along the way so you’ll be able to steer well clear of them. Furthermore, you’ll also learn about all the very latest techniques and strategies being used in the field and for anyone wanting to succeed, this is essential.

There should be no question as to whether or not you should receive marketing training if you’re about to start your own venture. The important thing is; you need to choose a program which delivers the very best network marketing training, because the way in which you’re trained, will have a direct impact on the way you perform. Additionally, while you’re receiving your training, you should observe which methods and which techniques work best because the chances are, you’ll be providing training in the not too distant future.

I bet you didnt know that cancer cells feed on sugar in order for them to survive. This fact was part of the discovery of Dr. Otto Warburg about cancers biochemical cause way back in the 1930s. He pointed out several things that differentiate normal cells and cancer cells. Normal cells constantly need oxygen from blood circulation whereas cancer cells do not. It has been noted that any part of your body that do not contain any oxygen have cancer cells dwelling in it.

Both normal cells and cancer cells metabolize differently. If normal healthy cells metabolize using oxygen, cancer cells metabolize without the presence of oxygen because it uses the process of fermentation, a procedure similar to making wine which needs absolute oxygen-free environment. The findings also show that cancer cells metabolism is faster than normal healthy cells.

As mentioned, cancer cells use fermentation during their metabolism. During this process, the cancer cells need sugar in order for metabolism to take place. They will use the sugars stored in your body to facilitate the said process. Sugar helps cancer cells grow in number as well as strengthens them. Normal healthy cells also consume sugar in order for them to grow. But for this matter, we have to determine the difference between cancer and normal cells sugar intake.

Not all kinds of sugar feed cancer cells. There are good sugars and bad sugars. Bad sugars, otherwise known as simple sugars, are the main favorite food of cancer cells. These are said to be sugars with no nutritional benefit which you can find in sodas, sweet treats, sugary cereals, processed juice drinks, and other refined grains.

Good sugars, otherwise known as complex carbohydrates, are rich in nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, protein, and fiber. Fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains belong to the good sugars category. The sugars extracted from these food groups are utilized by normal healthy cells in their metabolism.

When you are fond of eating unhealthy foods filled with bad sugars and you have been diagnosed with cancer, start restructuring your food plan. Instead of drinking processed orange juice, why dont you substitute it with the real fruit orange? Flavored yogurts are also one of the rich sources of bad sugars. You can substitute it with plain yogurt filled with fresh fruits instead.

If you simply follow the simple plan of eradicating bad sugars from your overall diet, eventually the cancer cells die out because of starvation and their inability to metabolize and reproduce.

Sexual dysfunctions in men are often results of physical disability, especially spinal code injuries or multiple sclerosis. If you encounter these health issues, the last thing one need is to have sexual problems further aggravated by prostate disorders.

Prostate disorders affect elderly men and middle-aged men (between 40-59 years old). From this group most of them will develop clinically significant disease and one fourth of 50-years old have some cancerous cells in their prostate.

The prostate, located below the bladder, is a walnut-size gland that produces seminal fluid. Because the gland surrounds the urethra that drains the bladder, prostate disorders often affect urination. Most common disorders are 1) an inflammatory infection called prostatitis 2) being prostatic hyperplasia ” non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate (BHP) and 3) cancer ” the most frequent male malignancy.

Testosterone declines after age 40 and a testosterone variant called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and the female-associated hormone estrogen increases. DHT stimulate cell growth and this will lead to prostate enlargement.

Nutrients and Food:

Prostate dysfunction is a nutritional disease. It is very common in Western countries that emphasize in red meat, dairy products and eggs. Fruits and vegetables exert a positive effect.

Studies have found calcium in the milk may be bad for the prostate! Generally any excessive calcium intake, from any source, apparently suppresses the synthesis of a form of vitamin D that slow down prostate cancer.

Some studies have shown that men who consume tomatoes or tomato based foods, watermelon, guavas and pink grapefruit are less likely to get prostate cancer. This because these foods contain a powerful antioxidant agent called lycopene that gives them their characteristic red color.

The sugar in fruit that is used to sweeten many foods, known as fructose, is also prostate protecting food. Fructose stimulates the production of a vitamin D form that inhibits tumors.

Lack of zinc also affects the prostate because this gland uses it much more than any other body part. By taking zinc supplements can reduce prostate enlargement. Pumpkin seeds are rich in zinc.

Selenium is another often-deficient trace nutrient that is essential for prostate health. Increasing selenium intake, whether through supplements or selenium-rich foods, has been shown to reduce prostate-cancer risk.

Nutritional supplements contain vitamin D and E, garlic, sulfur containing compounds and soy-based foods may inhibit prostate cancer.

It is now generally agreed that a wider prostate cancer awareness needs to be created to raise consciousness and reduce ignorance about the disease.

Tests, treatment and cure.

The most important step in battling this disease is making information readily available, creating awareness about what it is , who is affected and what are the choices of treatment.

The core to successful treatment, cure or eradication of prostate cancer lies in early testing to ensure early detection of its presence or onset. And so men of 45 years and above should go for screening tests.

This is a cancer common among older men and is one whose growth and spread is generally slow. Sometimes no signs of its presence can be found in the early stages. That is why the solution lies in regular tests.

The tests help the doctor find the presence of any cancer tumours in the prostate. If he finds cells that are benign, he can rule out the presence of cancer. If found malignant then the cells are cancerous. This is important knowledge in prostate cancer awareness.

More tests and early treatment.

If the tumour in the gland is malignant (cancerous) more testing over time will be continued. This is watchful waiting to ensure the cancer does not spread beyond the prostate gland while delaying treatment until absolutely needed.

To further aid in this containment the doctor may use the hormone therapy to reduce the male hormone testosterone which causes rapid multiplication of cancer cells.

More than this, if the cancer is showing signs of growing outside the gland, the doctor may then decide to remove the prostate gland by surgery. This should remove the cancer for good and chances of its recurrence are negligible.

Raising prostate cancer awareness brings hope to succeeding in the battle against the disease. The big step is for men now to show up for early screening tests.

In the early stages in most cases, symptoms of prostate cancer are normally not easy to detect.Yet early detection is important for effective cure and treatment.

For both benign and malignant cells the initial signs are similar and usually exhibit urinary problems. Benign tumors are normally easy to treat and eliminate.

With thorough testing the difference will be established and benign tumors are quite easy to treat and so rule out.

These are the symptoms to look out for :

– passing urine often

– difficulty in passing or holding back urine

– pain or even a burning sensation in urination

– weak stream of urine

– blood in the urine

– some amount of impotence

– painful ejaculation

– swelling in the legs and discomfort in the hips

– lower back pain with stiffness

– weight loss

The doctor will be able to advice on the patient’s condition.

Symptoms of prostate cancer need early detection to allow for checking the spread of the disease and what treatment is needed. Why not get tested today.

by Gerome Plunk

Also known as Radioactive Seed Implant, Brachytherapy Prostate Treatment involves either temporary high dosage rate seed implantation or the permanent low dose seed implantation.

In permanent implantation, radioactive seeds are injected into the prostate gland and over a period of several weeks they release low doses of radiation to the tumor. In temporary implantation, small removable catheters are placed in the gland through which high doses of radiation can be administered by the doctor to the cancer cells as required.

What the operation entails

This in a non-surgical operation done under anesthesia that takes 1 to 2 hours It is usually out-patient and the patient will resume normal activities within a few days.

The placement of seeds in brachytherapy prostate treatment is very accurate and because of this precision the doctor can deliver radiation exactly where it is required for maximum effectiveness.

The seeds remain in the prostate and emit localized radiation for a period of time, usually not more than a few months and so destroy the cancer cells.

The size of the seeds is small and the patient will not feel them once in place.

Who should get brachytherapy prostate treatment?

This is treatment that is most effective for patients whose tumors are still within the prostate gland. It is also the ideal treatment for early stages of prostate cancer.

Thorough screening tests are necessary to ensure that the patient is also in good health and that the tumor has not spread outside of the gland.

The bottom line for brachytherapy prostate treatment is that the patient discuss in great detail with his doctor before deciding whether this is the right method for him.

Prostate cancer today is one of the leading causes of death in men. The most advanced stages of this disease are reported to have occurred in men who smoke.

Cancer and Effects of Smoking

Evidence confirms that an indirect relationship between smoking and a variety of types of cancer definitely does exist. The development of this serious health problem usually starts out as an illness that attacks the respiratory system.

Further damage to the body occurs when the breakdown of the immune system takes place. This effect is most noticeable in people who have smoked heavily for several years.

Some of these people have even experienced varying severity of cancer of prostate. Malignancies in some people also may have spread to other parts of the body.

Risk Prostate Cancer

A total of 66% of men who smoke are at increased risk of developing various forms of cancer. This risk is highest if a man still smokes today. The lowest risk of development of a malignant condition is in those who have stopped smoking for ten years or longer.

Further studies are being done on the relationship of the possibility of smoking as a cause of cancer of prostate. Some studies have already indicated that this type of cancer exists in advanced stages in many men who smoke. It may have also spread to other parts of the body.

The most sever cases of any type of cancer including this one occurred in men who were observed that smoked for 20 to 40 years. This study was based on men who smoked one pack a day for 40 years or two packs a day for 20 years.

Hope for Smokers

Hearing this news may seem like dreadful news to some men. However, there is some hope for those who choose to quit smoking at any time.

Even in cases in which a person does quit smoking and still is diagnosed with cancer of prostate later on chances are it can be curable. With every year that passes and one has not smoked the chance of a fatality occurring gradually diminishes.

People are just learning about the possibility of a linkage between cancer of prostate and smoking. The more they learn about how to prevent this type of cancer the more changes they will be willing to make.

A very significant problem which can and frequently does strike the prostate is prostate cancer which is a life-threatening condition which presently strikes roughly one man in ten and is the second most common cause of cancer death in men today.

So just how does this condition begin?

Prostate cancer begins as a malignant tumor in the prostate gland which, if left untreated, is likely to spread into neighboring tissue and organs and then into the lymph nodes and bone.

What are the risk factors involved when it comes to contracting prostate cancer?

Nearly three-quarters of those affected with with disease are over the age of 65.

Men who have family members such as a grandfather or father who have contracted cancer of the prostate are 11 times more likely to contract prostate cancer at some point in their lives.

The death rate in men with this condition rises with weight and is especially high in men who are obese.

Caucasian men are more than twice as likely to develop this disease than those of African decent.

Is there anything I can do to prevent myself from contracting prostate cancer?

In reality there is nothing which you can do to prevent yourself from getting this condition although some people are convinced that eating a healthy diet can lower your risk from this particular form of cancer. At the moment there is little if any evidence to support this.

How is prostate cancer diagnosed?

There are a number of different tests available including the PSA test, a digital rectal exam and a biopsy.

The prostate specific antigen (PSA) test is a blood test which detects the level of a prostate specific antigen in the bloodstream. High prostate specific antigen levels do not mean that you have prostate cancer but are an indication of a possible problem that should be investigated further.

The digital rectal examination requires a doctor to put on a glove and insert a lubricated finger into the anus to feel the prostate for enlargement or irregularity.

A biopsy means the doctor will take several tissue samples from the prostate gland which will then be taken to a lab where they are checked under a microscope for signs of abnormal cells.

Cancer has become the biggest scare for individuals. Most people are now afraid to go to the doctor because they are afraid that they might get the news that they have cancer. Others make sure that they get their annual check-up just to ensure that they don’t have that deadly disease lurking around in their system.

This is a very shock truth. The research also says that one in every three American has cancer but they are just not aware of it because it has not been detected or not diagnosed as yet. The statistics is very alarming.

In the last few years cancer detection has been on the rise despite all the money that has been spent for medical research, the medication for cancer and the drugs and widespread cry to find a cure for cancer, there has been so called no cure for cancer.

Pharmaceutical company, however, have been able to produce medication and drugs that will help alleviate the pain and discomfort of cancer while at the same time making a hefty profit for themselves. Yet cancer continues to take lives.

Most people who have undergone chemotherapy or radiation have said that it made them feel weak and are now beginning to seek a more holistic cure for cancer. And as the need for a natural cure for cancer continues, it has come to the attention of many that there is a simple, natural scientifically proven method to cure cancer.

But now we are told that we have a natural cure for cancer. These researchers have claimed that though this method might be new to some, it has been used and has been scientifically proven to heal cancer and many other deadly diseases.

A method to cure cancer naturally has been found that has been helping people in Europe for many years but has not been a mainstream product. The product has claimed to cure not only cancer but almost all the terminal diseases that most people dread.

Most doctors will confirm that the reason why the body gets cancer or any other disease is simply because the body has gotten so weak that it can no longer fight off disease and so they take over the body.

This medical breakthrough is said to help restore the body’s ability to cure itself simply by putting the body back in the condition where it can heal itself without outside inference of medication, drugs, surgery, chemotherapy or radiation.

This form of cure for cancer is safe, easy to use, and natural and is much cheaper than all the other medical procedures and the most interesting aspect is that it can be done at home.

Emory Urology center treats a variety of conditions and diseases for example, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer are all treated by Emory Urologists. The Emory Department of Urology provides prostate cancer treatment. Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer found in men, but it is still an illness that many do not fully understand.

Because this form of cancer is one that most people are still not fully aware of, it is important to at least understand the risks and factors that may apply to each individual. Similar to other cancers, early diagnosis is the key to a successful outcome.

Emory Urologists also treat bladder cancer. Bladder cancer is the sixth most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States. The wall of the bladder has several layers, and cancer begins in the lining layer then grows into the bladder wall. While there are no specific risk factors for bladder cancer, patients who experience blood in their urine, frequent urination, or feeling the need to urinate without being able to do so, pain during urination or lower back pain should see a doctor because they may be at risk for bladder cancer. Survival is greatly improved if bladder cancer is caught and treated early..

Emory Urology also understands that male and female urology needs and conditions may differ. A female is clearly not going to worry about prostate cancer, while a male will not worry about bladder problems during pregnancy, after childbirth or after hysterectomy.

Kidney stones are treated by Atlanta Urologists. Kidney stones are one of the most common disorders of the urinary tract and affect 12% of men and 5 % of women by the age of 70. Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, is located in the heart of the “stonebelt” where there is a high incidence of stone disease due to the weather and southern diet so Emory developed The Emory University Urology Comprehensive Stone Center.

Dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of kidney stones, the center provides the best care by combining the most advanced treatment technologies with doctors who are experts in the field of stone disease.

It is well known now that throughout the world, men and women have different medical issues. When you think of cancer in women, for example, you automatically think of breast cancer. It may not be as common as in women but breast cancer is found in men as well.

Looking cancer in men it invariably brings up prostrate cancer. Today’s man at a party is more likely to discuss this topic that that of his recently purchased sports car.

If we are honest, it’s the cure we are interested in and preferably how to prevent it but this requires a good deal of research.

If the truth be known, cancer does worry me. I don’t doubt that like me, most men haven’t got it on their minds all day long. However, it does enter my mind every time I see something addressing the illness. When you watch the television, you can’t escape from it with a number of adverts relating to prostrate and breast cancer every hour.

Both will require far more investigation and examination before a cure can be found. As health problems go, cancer is probably the most pervasive in the world and a cure to this dreadful disease cannot come too soon.

I say this specifically about cancer because it’s one illness that cannot be fully prevented. Ok, so you can do all the right things, have the correct diet and exercise, don’t smoke etc. but that doesn’t mean you won’t get it.

No matter how bad HIV is, it is avoidable and is something that is passed from one individual to another, cancer is completely different.

Reading articles and reports carried out on prostrate cancer research is informative and let’s you exactly how far we are away from finding a cure. New treatments and breakthroughs are in the public domain so you do not have to be ignorant on any subject.

One day, articles like this will be redundant because all that breast and prostrate cancer research will have found a cure.

We all know that prostate cancer can happen to any male and it is a very common type of cancer. The commonest form of cancer in the United States today is skin cancer but, to many people’s surprise, prostate cancer is the second most frequently seen type of cancer and results in some 30,000 deaths each year. According to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, this type of cancer is the most prevalent non-skin cancer in the United States.

A prostate seed implant may be the only type of radiation therapy needed by a man with low-risk prostate cancer or it may be prescribed in addition to external beam radiation therapy in men with intermediate- and high- risk prostate cancer. If caught in its early stages prostate cancer can be successfully treated either by surgery or radiation therapy (radiotherapy) and, while such treatment can often leave its mark in terms of ongoing problems with urination or a degradation or loss of sexual function, the cancer will often not return. Curing prostate cancer is possible, and the treatment is more effective if cancer is detected in the early stages.

Curing prostate cancer is possible, but the condition has to be detected in the early stages. Because prostate cancer is a relatively slow-growing disease and easy to control if it is detected early enough, the regular screenings are recommended for obese people experiencing the above symptoms. Although the aforementioned prostate statistics don’t seem to be good, the truth of the matter is that if prostate cancer is detected early, treatments are often very successful and chances of surviving are very high.

Although the same researchers were quick to point out that each year fewer and fewer men are dying of prostate cancer, due to awareness, better treatments and early detection through new and more available screening techniques. In order to catch prostate cancer in its early stages, it is recommended that men with no risk factors get an annual screening every year beginning at age 50. In addition, beginning at age 50, an annual PSA test is necessary because it is substantially more sensitive for men health than DRE when it comes to detecting early, tiny, or even microscopic cancers that are confined to the prostate gland.

In addition, another confusing aspect is that most of the possible warning signs, if they appear, are also the same signs for other prostate health problems that are non-cancerous in nature, such as BPH, which is called an enlarged prostate gland. I’m sure that we’ve all heard at some point or another the notion that more sex is the solution to prostate problems, citing as evidence the high incidence of prostate cancer in celibate priests. This could be the first time an evidence is produced that a virus is related to prostate cancer development.

Probably, the conclusion that drugs lowering cholesterol may help prevent prostate cancer or at least decrease its development is premature. Sun exposure prevent prostate cancer and the new research suggest vitamin D in supplement may be a safer option today for men. Researchers shown that vitamin D has many micronutrients promote and prevent the prostate cancer in men.

Chemotherapy is typically not effective against prostate cancer although newer drugs developed in recent years have shown the ability to relieve symptoms in men with advanced prostate cancer. According to Prostate Cancer Foundation, symptoms of the ailment include a necessity to urinate very often, weak urine flow, difficulty in starting urination, painful or burning urination, painful ejaculation, blood cells in the semen or urine, as well as frequent pain and cramps in the lower back, hips and upper thighs. One of the most common symptoms listed above is the difficulty starting to pass urine, but keep your eye out for the others.

I spend time being concerned about all sorts of things. My finances are always a worry and my job prospects concern me but the most important thing is my health. We may disregard our health when we are young but as we get older we become more aware of our bodies and the problems thay can suffer. For men of a certain age, the prostate is, or should be, a concern.

Prostate cancer is not a typical topic of conversation for men. Most men know nothing about the prostate and unlike women who are usually aware of breast cancer men seem to want to continue in blissful ignorance of the possible problems with the prostate even though early diagnosis and treatment can often lead to a successful conclusion.

For some reason men do not seem to discus medical matters in the same way that women do. Why that is, is difficult to understand since discussion of just this one subject of the prostate gland would no doubt save lives by making men more aware of potential prostate health problems.

They say that ignorance is no defence and that certainly applies to prostate health problems. Ignoring it will not make it all go away and being ignorant of possible symptoms leaves you open to the chances of far greater health problems later. Learning about your prostate and possible symptoms of prostate related health issues can help you together with your doctor in overcoming those difficulties.

For most men the prostate presents no problems before they are in their fifties. Once they reach that age the most common problem to occur seems to be growth of the prostate gland which can put pressure on the other parts of the body which it is adjacent to. Growth of the prostate is quite common in older men and does not always present a problem.

There is a one in six chance of a man developing prostate cancer in his lifetime in the US. Treatment is usually effective and the success rate following early diagnosis is very high. This clearly shows that early diagnosis is very important and men should be aware of the risks.

Since early diagnosis can make such an important difference to the effectiveness of treatment you should consult with your doctor and ask about regular examinations and checks. Early treatment is said to be around 99% effective so it is clear that regular checkups can make an important difference.

Introduction:-
a

by Kim and Charles Petty

Introduction:-

Prostate is a glandular organ present only in males. It surrounds the neck of bladder & the first part of urethra and condributes a secretion to the semen. The gland is conical in shape and measures 3 cm in vertical diameter and 4 cm in transverse diameter. It has got five lobes anterior, posterior, two lateral and a median lobe.Since the first part of the urethra pass through it any lesion in the prostate will produce difficulty in passing urine.

Diseases of the prostate gland:-

1) Prostatitis:-

This is the inflamation of the prostate gland due to bacterial infection.

2) Benign enlargement of the prostate:-

This is a non cancerous tumour of the prostate seen after the age of 50. 3,Cancer of the prostate:-This is the 4th most common cause of death from malignant diseases in males.

Cancer of the prostate.

Cancer of the prostate is directly linked with the male sex hormones(androgens). If the levels of sex hormone increases the growth rate of cancer also increases. It is found that after the removel of testes there is marked reduction in the size of tumour.

Site of tumour:-

Prostate cancer is seen mainly in the posterior lobe.Non cancerous enlargement is seen in other lobes.

Changes in the gland in cancer:-

The gland becomes hard with irregular surface with loss of normal lobulation .Histologically prostate cancer is an adeno carcinoma(cancer of the epithelial cells in the gland)

Growth :-

Growth rate is very fast in prostate cancer .The tumour compresses the urethra and produce difficulty in urination.

Spread of tumour:-

Metastasis in cancer of prostate is very early.

1) Local spread:-

From the posterior lobe the cancer cells go to the lateral lobes and seminal vesicles.Tumour cells also move to the neck and base of the urinary bladder.

2) Lymphatic spread:-

Through the lymph vessels cancer cells reach the internal and external illiac group of lymph nodes. From there cells move to retroperitonial(Behind the peritonium) and mediastinal lymph nodes(in the chest)

3) Spread through the blood:-

Spread of cancer cells takeplace through the periprostatic venous plexus and reaches the vertebral veins while coughing and sneezing and finally enders the vertebral bodies of the lumbar vertebrae.

Signs and symptoms of prostate cancer:–

Signs and symptoms depend upon the stage of the cancer. The following symptoms may be seen.

1) No symptoms:-

Tumour is small and only in the posterior lobe. This is diagnosed accidentely.

2) Slight difficulty in urination:-

Here the tumour is enlarged and urethra is slightly compressed.Shortly there will be frequent urge for urination with difficult urination.

3) When the tumour spread to all nearby areas including neck of bladder and urethra there will be painful urination with bleeding.Urine comes drop by drop.

4) Retention of urine:-

When the urethra is completely compressed there will be retention of urine. This can lead to hydronephrosis, renal failure ect.In this condition patient may get convulsions due to renal failure and finally coma.

5) Signs of metastasis:-

Some patients come with the signs and symptoms of metastasis.

a) Lumbo sacral pain due to spread of cancer cells to lumbar and sacral vertebrae.

b) Fracture of spine due to cancerous growth in the spine.

c) Swelling, pain and fluid collection in the abdomen due to lesion in the abdomen.

d) Respiratory complaints due to cancer of mediastinal lymphnodes and lungs.

e) General weakness due to spread of cancer to different parts of the body.

f) Anaemia due to involment of bone marrow and increased destruction of RBCs.

Clinical examination :-

Includes per rectal examination to feel the prostate gland, palpation of abdomen to feel the swelling in kidneys and any tumours.Patient is examined from head to foot to find out any lesions.

Investigations:-

1) Complete blood investigations;-

RBC,WBC,Platlets,ESR,bleeding time ,clotting time ect.

2) Urine analysis:-

Microscopic examination to detect pus cells, occult blood, casts,Crystals ect.

3) Renal function tests:-

Blood urea level, serum creatinine level, electrolyte level ect.

4) Serum acid phosphatase:-

Increased in cancer of prostate.

5) x-ray of the spine:-

To detect any tumour or fracture.

6) Ultra sonography;-

Gives idea about prostate,bladder,kidney ect.

7) C T scan:-

More detailed information about organs and tumour.

 MRI of the spine:-

Gives detailed information about spine ,disc and nearby soft tissues.

9) Lymphangiography:-

Gives idea about lymphatic spread of cancer.

10) Biopsy to confirm cancer:-

Biopsy is taken from the tumour and is send for histopathological examination under the microscope. This will detect the presence of cancer cells.

Treatment:-

1) If there is retention of urine catheterisation is needed. 2) Dialysis if kidney failure. 3) If there is coma monitoring of all vital functions along with parentral nutrition and electolyte supply. 4) Specific treatment is prostatectomy(removal of prostate)

Partial prostatectomy :-

Here only the affected lobe is removed.

Radical prostatectomy :-

Total removal of prostate along with nearby lymphnodes.

5, Hormone therapy :-

Stilbestrol is given to reduce tumour growth.Since this treatement increases the chance for cardiovascular disease phosphorylated diethyle stilbesterol is used nowadays.

6) Chemotherapy:-Drugs like cyclophosphamide, cisoplatim ect are given.

7) Radiotherapy is also done for some cases.

 Homoeopathy:-

Homoeopathic drugs like carcinocin, conium, sabal, crotalus, thuja, iodum, selinium, staphysagria, sulphur ect can be given according to symptoms.Constitutional homoeopathic medicine will give great relief and can increase the life span.

9) Yoga and meditation is also healpful.

The latest on T3 prostate cancer is that patients who have to go through radical prostate surgery can still get good outcomes for the long term. Published in the Journal of Urology (August 2006), the report came from research at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and tackled the latest on T3 prostate cancer by testing 176 male subjects.

The Latest on T3 Prostate Cancer – Surgery vs. Hormones

The patients had regional or locally advance T3 prostate cancer and so were undergoing radiotherapy combined with androgen deprivation. They had also had radical prostrate surgery, from 1983?2003.

Out of all the patients, 64 were given Neoadjuvant hormonal treatment, while the rest had radical prostate surgery as their only therapy.

The Latest on T3 Prostate Cancer – PSA Tests

The patients who got the hormonal treatment had higher PSA levels before treatment. They also had more cases of semen invasion.

Men with high levels of prostate-specific antigen or PSA have been shown to develop prostate cancer. But the test is not 100% accurate.

PSA is currently being tested in the hopes of providing some sort of early warning device for prostate cancer diagnosis in its first stage.

The Latest on T3 Prostate Cancer – Short Term Results

The latest on T3 prostate cancer reveals that tumors were downgraded and confined to the organ in 24% of patients who only had prostate surgery as therapy. For patients who had hormonal treatment, downgrading was much better at 41%.

Other results of the study were:

1. A positive surgical margin was noted in 24% of the prostate surgery only patients, and 31% of the hormonal treatment group.

2. Biochemical reactions were seen in 48% of the patients over four and a half years after prostate surgery.

3. The likelihood of being free of any biochemical reactions for 10 years steadily declined as patients had higher PSA levels.

4. It didn?t necessarily follow that only those who underwent hormonal treatment also had biochemical reactions.

The Latest on T3 Prostate Cancer – Long Term Results

The latest on T3 prostate cancer report also stated the following results, which doctors noted over the long term.

1. The overall likelihood that the patients wouldn?t suffer from clinical failure at 5 years was 86%. At 10 years, the probability dropped by 10%.

2. 6.4 years later, 82% of the patients were found to be alive, 11% had died of T3 prostate cancer, and 7% due to other causes.

3. The disease didn?t recur in 52% of patients who underwent prostate surgery for T3 prostate cancer.

Metastasis transforms cancer of the prostate to bone marrow cancer. When prostate cancer metastasizes, the cancer leaves the prostate gland and adjacent organs. Metastasis from prostate to bone marrow cancer usually occurs in advance stage prostate cancer.

During metastasis, cancer cells spread outward. They may spread nearby or they may migrate to distant organs.

Prostate to Bone Marrow Cancer ? Does It Follow A Pattern?

So far, clinical research hasn?t pinpointed any exact way cancer cells spread. However, scientific research has documented distinct patterns in the way certain types of cancer spread.

Also, that certain cancer cell types have a ?preference? for settling in some parts of the body more than others.

So what?s the likelihood of prostate to bone marrow cancer metastasis? Although the reasons behind the pattern are unclear, studies have shown that prostate cancer cells have a preference for settling in bone tissue.

What?s more, prostate cancer cells have a tendency to settle in bone tissue after spreading to the area of the pelvis.

When prostate cancer cells settle into the bone, it becomes known as prostate cancer bone metastasis.

Prostate to Bone Marrow Cancer ? Are Both Treated in the Same Way?

Not necessarily. In primary bone cancer, the cancer cells originate within the bone. In secondary bone cancer, such as prostate cancer bone metastasis, the cancer cells that sit in the bone remain prostate cancer cells. They just happen to sit in the bone.

So in prostate to bone marrow cancer metastasis, cancer cells receive the same exact treatment as those in prostate cancer, like chemo or hormone therapy.

However, prostate cancer cells that have metastasized to the bone won?t just sit there doing nothing. Interacting with the bone tissue, they interfere with bone function and growth, making it weak.

So doctors will treat these prostate cancer cells accordingly, but will also use therapy directed at keeping the bone as strong and healthy as possible.

Prostate to Bone Marrow Cancer ? Probabilities

Primary bone cancer cases are comparatively rare. Usually, ?bone cancer? patients are those that developed it from advance stages of prostate cancer. So since doctors refer to a cancer by where the disease originated, such patients are said to (still) have prostate cancer, but with bone metastasis.

Any type of cancer can metastasize to bone, but the most common bone metastases come from:
- Breast cancer
- Lung cancer
- Prostate cancer

Prostate to Bone Marrow Cancer ? Symptoms

In its advance stage, prostate cancer with bone metastasis will have the following symptoms:
- Soreness/stiffness of the hips, thighs, and lower back
- Severe pain (degrees vary across patients)
- Abnormally high calcium levels in blood (Hypercalcemia)

Prostate overdiagnosis is basically detection of prostate cancer using prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing that would otherwise not have been spotted within patients’ lifetimes. Since prostate cancer incidence in the US is high, its detection and overall treatment are of extreme importance. Prostate overdiagnosis is used for detecting cancers that wouldn’t have become apparent during the normal course of an individual’s existence.

About Prostate Overdiagnosis

Prostate cancer screening is closely related to prostate overdiagnosis. It’s an attempt to try and find unsuspected cancers in the body. General screening tests may give rise to more specific follow-up exams like biopsies, wherein small portions of the prostate are taken for further study.

Currently, prostate overdiagnosis and cancer screening options include digital rectal exams and PSA blood tests. However, it’s not clear whether the benefits of prostate cancer screening and prostate overdiagnosis outweigh the known risks of doing follow-up diagnostic testing and treatments, which makes it all the more controversial.

Prostate cancer is a fairly slow-growing type of cancer. It’s extremely common among elderly men. In fact, majority of prostate cancers never grow enough to the point of exhibiting symptoms. Most guys with prostate cancer die of other diseases or causes, way before prostate cancer has a dramatic impact on their lives.

The PSA screening test as it relates to prostate overdiagnosis, is useful for detecting these small cancers that would possibly never reach life-threatening proportions. Running the PSA test in such men could lead to prostate overdiagnosis, plus additional tests and treatments. Follow-up tests like prostate biopsy, might cause pain, infection and bleeding. Prostate cancer treatments may result in erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence.

Prostate overdiagnosis is helpful in revealing the existence of related cancers in men. Screening for prostate cancer usually starts after the age of 50, but it could also be offered sooner in black men or those with a strong history of prostate cancer in their family. Although there’s no officially proposed cutoff, most healthcare providers cease PSA monitoring and other prostate overdiagnosis tests in men once they reach 75 years and up.

Assuming that PSA screenings are effective, prostate overdiagnosis is considered by many to be quite acceptable ? well, save for the fact that a lot of men diagnosed with prostate cancer via PSA testing would have to endure unnecessary biopsies and significant risks of side effects from cancer treatment, even if they’d benefit nothing from the treatment.
