Milking the prostate gland is a method of prostate gland stimulation using the hand or medical instrument. This activity causes a prostate to ejaculate seminal fluid. In the hand technique, someone inserts their fingers into your rectal region to milk the prostate. It’s tough to do the prostate milking by yourself, so it’s generally done by a medical professional or a partner. Milking the prostate gland is also known as prostate massage.

Although often used interchangeably, prostate massage is more often used when the aim is relief of chronic prostatitis. Milking the prostate gland is more closely associated with the reduction of sexual drive or activity via prostatic fluid removal.

Milking The Prostate Gland Solo

The procedure for massaging or milking the prostate gland is fairly simple. While not exactly the best way to do it, milking the prostate gland solo is acceptable. Here are steps you can take if you want to go the whole milking the prostate gland activity alone.

Perform bowel movement or urination to heighten the relaxation of the prostate area.
Trim your fingernails and make sure they’ve got no jagged edges protruding prior to milking the prostate gland.
Thoroughly clean your hands and body then slip your hands into sterile latex gloves. Dab water-based lube on your hand digits before milking the prostate gland.
Gently insert your finger/s into your anal region. Move fingers upwards and inwards gradually. Fingers should be moving in the navel’s general direction.
You’ll start to feel something resembling a large walnut. This is the prostate gland. Massage it using a delicate, waving motion along the sides. Don’t press too hard on the center or you’ll hit the sensitive nerves. Take care not to touch the prostate gland with your bare fingernails when milking the prostate gland.
You might experience some troubling sensation that gives you the urge to go to the bathroom when you don’t really have to. Try to ignore this and get on with the procedure.
After several minutes, the prostate gland will be sufficiently stimulated to ejaculate. It’s possible to experience orgasm in the process of milking the prostate gland, but it doesn’t always bring about successful ejaculation.

Prostate gland milking is sometimes used as a medical procedure for relief of symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP) and chronic prostatitis. Milking the prostate gland is not recommended for patients suffering from acute prostatitis as the infection can quickly spread elsewhere within the body if prostate gland massage is performed.

Prostate treatment cost varies widely depending on the severity of the disorder and the type of therapy. But since cancer treatment is notoriously expensive, several groups have compiled statistics on it, particularly cancer of the prostate treatment cost.

Prostate Treatment Cost ? Recent Cancer Treatment Study

One of the most recent studies was published in a February 2006 issue of Cancer, the medical journal of the University of California in San Francisco. The study revealed that the typical five-year cancer of the prostate treatment cost is $42,570-cumulative.

The study tracked cancer of the prostate treatment cost in over 4,500 patients who had just been diagnosed with the disease.

Prostate Treatment Cost Study ? Which Treatments Did Patients Prefer?

What kind of prostate treatment was selected depended on a patient?s risk at his cancer stage as well as his age, researchers said, to wit:
- High risk, older subjects wanted costlier methods (e.g., androgen deprivation and external radiation therapy).
- Lower risk, younger subjects generally wanted the cheaper prostatectomy.

Prostate Treatment Cost Study ? Findings

The 2006 California study revealed the following regarding cancer of the prostate treatment cost.
1. In the initial 6 months following diagnosis, the average treatment cost was $11,495.
2. Individual expenses varied widely: for watchful waiting it was $2,568, for external radiation it was $24,204.
3. After 6 months, mean annual expense was $7,740/patient. For watchful waiting=$5,843 and for androgen deprivation treatment=$12,590.
4. Overall mean per-patient expense over 5? years=$42,570. For watchful waiting=$32,135 and for androgen deprivation=$69,244.

Prostate Treatment Cost ? Conclusions

Therefore, cancer of the prostate treatment cost per patient is both substantial as well as sustained over the long term.

A patient shouldn?t really decide on his treatment based purely on hospital/clinic literature, which only lists short term treatment expenses.

Comparing the cost of services between institutions by these fixed amounts can?t really take into consideration the total prostate treatment cost over the duration of the treatment.

If you?re trying to decide which prostate treatment to undergo, you will also have to consider what your insurance is willing to pay for. If you find the costs outlined in the study staggering, you could look into less expensive, less invasive treatments.

But the latest prostate cancer treatments use new technology, which are often classified as ?experimental? by insurance companies. This means that you may have to pay for your prostrate treatment cost out of your own pocket if you opt for them.

One prostate massage technique is generally used for treating prostatitis, which is the infection and/or inflammation of the prostate. The goal of this prostate massage technique: fluid release.

Prostate Massage Technique: How It Became Unpopular

Many doctors believe that the prostate massage technique is obsolete. These doctors prefer to work with antibiotics. The problem is that less than 10% of prostatitis cases are caused by bacteria, which is what antibiotics fight.

So in 90% of cases, it is likely that the suffering patient will be told to give the area a warm bath and just wait out the pain and discomfort until it disappears by itself.

If the patient happens to find a doctor who practices the prostate massage technique, he may be faced with another problem: most health plans don?t cover regular prostate massage therapy!

What?s even sadder is that the advantages of the prostate massage technique have been well documented in Western medical practice for a hundred years. But the practice seemed to wane simply because nobody bothered to publish enough statistical data on it.

Other factors that made the technique scarce were the difficulty doctors had in extracting fluid as well as the mode of massage, which was (understandably) not too popular with both doctors and patients alike.

In most cases, the only option left for the chronic prostatitis patient is to perform the prostate massage technique on himself.

How to Do the Prostate Massage Technique

What you need: sterile surgical gloves, pillow, KY or anesthetic jelly.

Warning: This procedure should only be performed if prostatitis is NOT caused by bacterial infection (consult your doctor). Performing this on an infected prostate may cause infection to spread.

1. Urinate and/or move your bowels before proceeding.
2. Trim your fingernails, removing jagged edges.
3. Lay on your side in fetal position with legs bent.
4. To help relax your muscles, put a pillow between your legs.
5. Lubricate your gloved hand with jelly.
6. Insert a finger into your anal canal.
7. Move upwards and towards your navel.
8. The tiny, round, walnut-like bulb is your prostate.
9. Massage your prostate along the edges.
(Warning: Do not let your nails hit. Do not press the center too hard as it has sensitive nerves.)
10. Feeling like you want to urinate is a natural reaction. Ignore it and proceed.
11. Your prostate gland should be stimulated to ejaculate after some minutes.
12. The average is 4 to 5 drops, but a dozen drops is normal.

Note that this particular prostate massage technique isn?t always successful.

Prostate cleansing herbs can help in the body?s natural healing and cleansing process. Men living in the Far East generally have healthier prostates than those living in the United States. Dietary intake may play a crucial part in it. A healthful diet that consists of fruits, veggies, soy products and whole grains along with herbal and vitamin support can have plenty of beneficial effects on the prostate gland. These prostate cleansing herbs are designed to support healthy prostate gland functioning.

Prostate Cleansing Herbs 101

If you?re suffering from erectile dysfunction, painful and/or difficult urination, prostatitis, frequent nighttime urination, enlarged prostate or high PSA levels, prostate cleansing herbs might be of help. Prostate cleansing herbs enhance the natural immune system and promote prostate tissue health.

Here are some of the more common prostate cleansing herbs and extracts:

* Graviola ? The Graviola prostate cleansing herbs have been proven effective in the treatment of cancer cells that are highly resistant to anti-cancer meds.
* Saw Palmetto extract ? This comes from small palm trees, with leaves and berries, that are native to North America. Some fat-soluble active compounds in Saw Palmetto that have beneficial effects on the prostate are monoglycerides, fatty acids and phytosterols.
* Momordica Charantia ? In clinical studies undertaken, these prostate cleansing herbs have been shown to inhibit growth of prostate tumors.
* Hawthorne extract ? These prostate cleansing herbs are noted for their high flavonoid compounds concentration of proanthocyanidins. These are mainly responsible for the extract?s free radical-scavenging activities. Such prostate cleansing herbs extracts are useful for promoting healthy cholesterol and blood pressure levels. Flavonoid compounds are good for strengthening coronary vessels, which in turn, enhances smooth arterial blood flow.
* Crinum Latifolium ? These prostate cleansing herbs have been known to alleviate BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) symptoms.
* Pumpkin Seed Oil extract ? Containing large amounts of sterols, zinc and fatty acids, this is extremely beneficial to healthy prostate and bladder functions.
* Pygeum extract ? This comes from evergreen trees in Africa. The extracts from the trees? bark contain a number of chemical compounds like phytosterols that have anti-inflammatory actions, promoting healthy prostate and bladder function.
* Nettle Root extract ? This is especially helpful in maintaining healthy functioning of the bladder. It?s a nourishing and prostate cleansing herb that?s loaded with minerals. Nettles possess a mild, water-releasing trait that helps kidneys in uric acid elimination.

Prostate cleansing herbs and special formulas let the body?s internal mechanisms correct any deficiencies associated with prostate disorders or dysfunctions. Most prostate cleansing herbs offer safe and effective treatment solutions to prostate problems. When choosing among various prostate cleansing herbs products, it?s important to be informed about what would best suit your particular prostate condition.

Prostate surgery aftercare is just as important as pre-surgery care. If you’ve had your prostate and its neighboring lymph nodes taken out because of prostate cancer, you’d have an idea what prostate surgery aftercare is about. Part of what’s involved in prostate surgery aftercare is usually discussed by the surgeon to his patient. The surgeon is also the best person to assist people in arranging for additional prostate surgery aftercare and further treatments.

Prostate Surgery Aftercare To-dos

Here’s what happens after surgery. A patient winds up with an incision in his lower abdomen along with staples to ensure the skin stays closed. There are also a couple of drainage tubes toward the sides of the incision.

The information below on prostate surgery aftercare will help men at home as they hurdle their surgery recovery period.

Prostate surgery aftercare activities. People can shower once staples are removed. Lifting weights above five pounds is a no-no. Driving cars without the doctor’s consent isn’t also recommended. Other things to avoid are sitting for extended periods and going up/down stairs more than three times a day within the first week of being home. Lay off strenuous activities like running and straining for a good six weeks.

Prostate surgery aftercare diet. People can resume their normal food diet once home. Do avoid constipation as this causes strain when engaged in bowel movement. If needed, use laxatives or stool softeners. Drink three to four quarts of fluids daily, unless liquid intake is restricted for medical reasons. Steer clear of alcohol and caffeine.
Prostate surgery aftercare for Foley catheter. A Care sheet will be provided for patients that include instructions regarding catheter homecare. Make sure the catheter is securely fastened to the leg. Clean the catheter at least two times daily. Should the penis tip become irritated or sore, apply a small amount of antibiotic ointment on it and in the surrounding area of the catheter, right where it inserts into the urethra.
Prostate surgery aftercare after removal of catheter. Drink plenty of liquids throughout the recovery phase. Patients drop by the office a week after prostate surgery for staples removal, three weeks later for catheter removal and six weeks after for follow-up and post-op Prostate Specific Antigen testing. When coming for catheter removal, bring adult diapers or pads to absorb leaks or drips that may follow catheter removal.

Good prostate surgery aftercare is essential to fast and worry-free recovery. Proper prostate surgery aftercare will make the weeks following surgery go by faster and with less problems. The key to effective prostate surgery aftercare is to keep the affected area clean at all times and to keep backbreaking activities at a minimum.

Pharmaceutical treatment for prostate cancer was approved as Proscar (Finasteride) in 1992 for treating prostrate gland enlargement. Recently, two other drugs, Nexrutine and Satraplatin, have undergone research aiming to find more sources of pharmaceutical treatment for prostate cancer.

Pharmaceutical Treatment for Prostate Cancer ? Proscar

Five years after Merck & Co.?s Proscar was approved for prostrate disorder, the drug Finasteride was approved by the FDA for male pattern baldness. So Merck marketed it, under the brand name Propecia, as a hair loss treatment for men.

Proscar was tested in doses of 5 mg a day at the PCPT (Prostate Cancer Prevention Trials). The 5-mg dose was chosen since it was the usual treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia, which is prostate enlargement that isn?t cancer. (Only 1 mg a day is prescribed for baldness.)

The 5-mg dose was shown to lower prostate cancer risk in PCPT subjects by 25%.

But the problem with this particular pharmaceutical treatment for prostate cancer was this: the cancer that did develop despite the drug appeared to be more prone to growth and spreading. The reason for this is as yet unknown.

According to the PCPT, 6% to 19% of subjects reported side effects from taking the drug. The most common was erectile dysfunction. Less common was enlargement of the male breast glands.

Although later trials showed that these side effects could stop if you stopped taking the drug, some men who?ve purchased Proscar commercially say the side effects last for months, even years, after they stopped using it. Some consumers of the lower dosage Propecia say they notice long lasting side effects as well.

Pharmaceutical Treatment for Prostate Cancer ? Nexrutine

Researchers at the University of Texas have tested Next Pharmaceuticals? Nexrutine, a patented extract taken from the Philodendron bark. Prior to 2006, Nexrutine was mainly marketed as a prostate inflammation and pain reliever.

The University of Texas study revealed that Nexrutine was an effective pharmaceutical treatment for prostate cancer as it worked at inhibiting prostate cancer cell growth.

What?s more, Nexrutine was proven to fight existing cancer cells through apoptosis, or cell death.

Pharmaceutical Treatment for Prostate Cancer ? Satraplatin

In 2006, Satraplatin manufaturer Spectrum Pharmaceuticals presented new data at a symposium hosted by the American Society of Clinical Oncology in San Francisco.

Satraplatin is the drug maker?s lead candidate as a cure for prostate cancer. The Spectrum-sponsored study tested 17 prostate cancer patients who had advance solid tumors.

Most of the patients had undergone an average of three prior chemotherapy sessions. This pharmaceutical treatment for prostate cancer stabilized the disease in two patients, while one patient showed a partial response.

Side effects, such as diarrhea and nausea, were reported to be mild and easily controlled by oral prophylactics.

New treatments for prostate cancer are being developed and widely implemented in both the scientific and natural fronts. What?s more, the line between the two approaches isn?t so easily drawn nowadays. Medical doctors and an alarmed male population are only willing to try all sorts of new treatments for prostate cancer given that:

- Half the US male population is expected to develop prostatitis symptoms at some point in their life.

- In the next year, 30,000 men with prostate cancer are expected to have a recurrence ? and half will probably die.

New Treatments for Prostate Cancer – Androgen Blockage

The most popular treatment for prostate cancer is still surgery combined with radiation. The surgeon removes the prostate gland, after which radiation is used to kill the cancer. The problem with this method is cancer will likely recur.

Even if cancer doesn?t recur, men who undergo treatment (especially younger ones) are dissatisfied due to permanent side effects, such as erectile dysfunction, incontinence, etc.

The good news is that one of the new treatments for prostate cancer, Androgen Blockage, doesn?t come with these complications. Rather, its side effects (e.g., low energy, muscle weakness, weight gain) are more tolerable and will usually disappear after treatment.

Among the new treatments for prostate cancer, this is one of the least invasive. It makes use of three drugs to stop androgen (male hormone) production.

Prostate cancer feeds on the primary androgen, testosterone. So if you block androgens, you can reduce or stop cancer.

How long does it take? Around one year. The duration of treatment is crucial. It should last long enough to manage the cancer, but not too prolonged that cancer mutates into a resistant strain.

Doctors also prescribe Proscar, a drug that protects the patient from any hormonal byproducts that promote cancer growth. The only downside is that while Androgen Blockage won?t cause erectile dysfunction, using Proscar does.

New Treatments for Prostate Cancer ? Palmetto

While Palmetto isn?t technically one of the new treatments for prostate cancer as it has been used in Europe for many years, its use is comparatively new in America. It comes from Palmetto palm berries, often found along the coast of the US Southeast.

Clinical research shows that the Palmetto herb works better than Proscar (see above) in treating cases of prostate enlargement. Studies show that:

- Palmetto worked in 90% of subjects after 4 to 6 weeks
- Proscar worked in less than 50% of subjects after 12 months

Even better, Palmetto is cheaper and doesn?t cause the side effects that Proscar does (e.g., erectile dysfunction).

This is why among the new treatments for prostate cancer that doctors are exploring is replacing Proscar with Palmetto in Androgen Blockage therapy.

Johns Hopkins research on prostate cancer includes the latest news and info on prostate cancer, prostatitis and BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia). Such articles come straight from the specialists at Johns Hopkins. When it comes to the most up-to-date prostate cancer-related information, almost nothing beats Johns Hopkins research on prostate cancer.

The Brady Urological Institute of Johns Hopkins has been at the helm of advancing understanding of malignant and benign prostate tumors. With its PhD faculty undertaking fulltime research activities and highly talented pool of pre- and post-doctoral fellows engaged in various Johns Hopkins research on prostate cancer, the institute has been able to develop many different concepts and approaches that hold a lot of promise for better methods of managing advanced and localized prostate cancer.

More On Johns Hopkins Research On Prostate Cancer?

Prostates are walnut-sized glands found just below men’s bladders. The prostate surrounds the urethra, a tube transporting urine from the bladder. It’s responsible for keeping semen and urine flowing in the right direction. In addition, it also produces prostatic fluid, a component of semen.

According to Johns Hopkins research on prostate cancer, when men reach middle age and/or beyond, the prostate’s inner portion starts enlarging, putting pressure on the urethra. This is called BPH. Pressure of enlarged prostates in men can produce symptoms like frequent urination, weak or delayed urinary streams and need to urinate often at night.

Over the years, the Brady Urological Laboratory has developed and typified exceptional animal models for prostate cancer study that resemble the natural disease in men. Such models were perfect for investigating immunotherapeutic, surgical, chemotherapeutic and hormonal approaches to prostate cancer. Johns Hopkins research on prostate cancer has successfully plotted the anatomical course of nerves controlling erection and was able to improve upon the surgical techniques regarding their preservation.

Johns Hopkins research on prostate cancer includes studies determining how the nerves could possibly be restored in patients. Other Johns Hopkins research on prostate cancer has endeavored to discover potential techniques that might promote nerve regeneration. Experts involved in Johns Hopkins research on prostate cancer discuss the varied aspects of prostate cancer ? from its prevention to its diagnosis to its treatment.

Specialists for Johns Hopkins research on prostate cancer also cover a wide range of other genitourinary conditions that might result from prostate disorders and disease treatments. These include various types of urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction and overactive bladders. Experts involved in Johns Hopkins research on prostate cancer continue to explore in detail current prostate cancer and related disorders’ medications and the different treatment options available so patients can make more informed decisions.

Many people consider a homepathic cure for prostate disorders as a last resort. They view homeopathy as alternative medicine that is a little ?winky? for treating ?manly? prostate ailments. What these people need to understand is that homeopathy is a centuries-old medical science, completely regulated by the US Food and Drug Administration. All remedies, including homepathic cure for prostate problems recognized by the renowned Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the US (HPUS) have been tried and proven highly effective in controlled clinical trial settings.

Skeptical male patients seeking homeopathic solutions to their prostate troubles often wind up preaching its many good qualities. Once the concept is explained to them and they start experiencing its powerful and affirmative effects, they go on to be evangelists of the homepathic cure for prostate disorders. Why? This is because homeopathic meds work fast and successfully minus any dangerous side-effects associated with a lot of traditional treatments, prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs.

A Homepathic Cure For Prostate Conditions

Plenty of male medical conditions can be treated quite effectively and quickly using homeopathic cures. For instance, with prostate disorders like enlarged prostates, conventional medicine recommends the conduct of a Trans-Urethral Resection Procedure. Now this is a highly invasive surgical procedure. Who would want to undergo invasive procedures when there are less invasive options available, right? This is where a homepathic cure for prostate conditions comes in.

Often, just one dose of the right remedy or homepathic cure for prostate disorders is enough to stimulate a healing response in the body. Disorders that can be treated quite effectively with homeopathic cures are overactive bladders, painful orgasms, swellings and fluid seepages. A homepathic cure for prostate ailments usually makes surgeries unnecessary.

Finding a suitable remedy or homepathic cure for prostate problems is not hard. Some of the homeopathic prostate cures recognized by the HPUS include Caladium, Selenium, Baryta Carbonica and Thuja. These all represent a homepathic cure for prostate conditions that aid in strengthening the prostate and restoring it to its normal functioning.

Aside from a homepathic cure for prostate woes, other male disorders like erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation as well as gout and arthritis can be treated using homeopathy. Men suffering from prostate disorders can try a homepathic cure for prostate conditions and see how their bodies respond to it. Consulting with an expert homeopathic practitioner while trying out a homepathic cure for prostate problems will be helpful.

Healing with natural prostate treatments makes sense because prostate disorders are regarded as nutritional diseases. Moreover, if you consider the staggering statistics of prostate dysfunction, preventive healing with natural prostate treatments is indeed a necessity for all men.

Over half of men over age 40 have a tendency for prostate enlargement. Even if most of them probably won?t develop any clinically substantial disorder, some kind of dysfunction could occur.

But if you consider that 25% of men over age 50 develop cancer cells in their prostates, then learning about healing with natural prostate treatments becomes a matter of life and death.

Healing With Natural Prostate Nutrients – Harmful Foods

Did you know that prostate disorders afflict more men in developed Western nations? The reason is that men in these countries eat more animal based food. Red meat and dairy products are notorious for accumulating toxins from the environment.

So healing with natural prostate nutrients will involve a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, preferably organically grown (i.e., no chemical pesticides).

But isn?t milk supposed to be good? Apparently not in men ? especially not as they draw nearer age 40 and should be concerned about preventive healing with natural prostate nutrients.

Clinical research concludes that milk is harmful to the prostate since top milk-drinking populations also have the highest prostate cancer incidence. However, more recent studies reveal the problem to be the calcium contained in milk.

WARNING: Too much calcium in your diet, no matter what the source, will detract from other healing with natural prostate treatments as it hampers the processing of the Vitamin D prostate cancer inhibitor.

Healing With Natural Prostate Nutrients – Helpful Foods

So what kinds of food should you eat for preventive healing with natural prostrate nutrients? Aside from Vitamin D, studies also show the following to be highly beneficial.

1. Lycopene, powerful antioxidant found in
- Tomatoes, tomato products like ketchup
- Watermelon
- Pink grapefruit
- Guavas
What it does: Fights prostate cancer, reduces size of existing tumors

2. Fructose, sugar found in
- Fruits
- Food ingredients
What it does: Stimulates body to produce Vitamin D tumor inhibitor

3. Zinc, mineral found in
- Pumpkin seeds
- Enriched cereal products
What it does: Alters hormone metabolism to reduce enlargement of prostate gland. Zinc deficiency is a problem as the prostate uses up more zinc that any other part of the human body.

4. Selenium, trace nutrient found in
- Brazil nuts
What it does: Reduces risk of developing prostate cancer

5. Vitamin E, antioxidant found in
- Nutritional supplements
What it does: Fights cancer growth

6. Genistein, agent found in
- Soybean and soy based food
What it does: Inhibits cancer development

7. Sulfur compound, found in
- Garlic
What it does: Reduces risk of developing prostate cancer

The electrostimulation of the prostate gland was the subject of a discussion, which took place in a Prostate Cancer Research Symposium in Atlanta, in May 2006. An Australian doctor spoke on how castration affected nerve regeneration in rats, a method that used electrostimulation of the prostate.

Electrostimulation of the Prostate ? Lab Rat Research

Lab rats went through a procedure called Cavernous Neurotomy, after which a nerve graft was done with genitofemoral nerves.

Scientists picked rats at random and divided them into three groups:
- One group was castrated
- The second received the hormone testosterone
- The third was left hormonally intact

Electrostimulation of the prostate nerve grafts was done after 3 months, and then the rats were analyzed.

The Australian scientists discovered that castrating the rats reduced the electrostimulation of the prostate nerve grafts.

Electrostimulation of the Prostate ? Human Application

If we were to apply the conclusions to humans, it means that nerve grafts would be next to useless for patients who could require androgen deprivation therapy after prostate surgery.

A doctor from UC Davis suggested that during castration, some androgen sensitive cancer cells most likely escaped being killed.

Electrostimulation of the Prostate ? Effect on Erectile Nerves

A German study examined 18 patients undergoing prostatectomy that spared the prostate nerves. Electrostimulation of the prostate was used to identify the nerves that caused an erection.

The goal of electrostimulation of the prostate was to improve intraoperative conditions to achieve better response after surgery. Researchers were hoping that this could somehow reduce the side effects of prostate surgery, particularly erectile dysfunction or impotence.

Different types of anesthetics were used during electrostimulation of the prostate. The study showed that the effect of the procedure varied across patients.

Electrostimulation of the Prostate ? Significance of New Research

The use of electrostimulation of the prostate for rehabilitative purposes isn?t exactly a groundbreaking idea. Previously discovered treatments use transurethral electrostimulation to improve male sexual functions after surgery.

But these prior treatments stimulated the posterior part of the urethra and the seminal tubercle, both of which trigger the male erogenous zone. The German study, on the other hand, used electrostimulation of the prostate instead.

Research into such methods is important for doctors as a dysfunctional prostate can lead to the accumulation of semen. Accumulated seminal fluids in turn lead to blockage, which is what certain types of prostate surgery aim to correct in the first place.

For patients, however, the significance of research into electrostimulation of the prostate hits a little closer to home.
